LG Sinha Appeals for Donations to Armed Forces Flag Day Fund

Jammu and Kashmir Raj Bhawan witnessed a heartwarming ceremony as Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha hosted Army veterans and officials from the Sainik Welfare Department for the customary Armed Forces Flag pinning, marking the annual Armed Forces Flag Day observed on 7th December.

The ceremony served as a platform to honor martyrs, express gratitude to soldiers, and acknowledge their unwavering dedication to protecting the nation’s integrity and sovereignty. Lt. Governor Sinha paid solemn tributes to the fallen heroes and expressed profound gratitude to the brave men and women in uniform who selflessly safeguard the country’s honor.

In a stirring call for action, the Lt. Governor appealed to all citizens to generously contribute to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, which directly supports the welfare and rehabilitation of ex-servicemen, Veer Naris (widows of soldiers), and martyrs’ families.

“In Jammu and Kashmir, the Armed Forces play a crucial role in combating terrorism and fostering a safe and secure environment for all. It is our collective responsibility to care for the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation,” emphasized the Lt. Governor.

Brigadier Gurmeet Singh Shan, Director of the Sainik Welfare Department, J&K, adorned the Lt. Governor’s jacket with the Armed Forces Flag. He also presented a comprehensive overview of the department’s initiatives, including the recent enhancement of daughter marriage grants, the introduction of widow re-marriage grants, and other ongoing welfare programs for veterans, Veer Naris, their dependents, and serving personnel.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of notable veterans, including Col. JS Randhawa (Retd.), Col. BS Sambyal (Retd.), Col. Jitendra Singh (Retd.), Col. Sukhbir Singh (Retd.), Col. JA Mir (Retd.), Col. Manjeet Singh (Retd.), Subhash Chander, and esteemed individuals like Bawa Singh, Ashwani Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Janak Singh, Vinod Badkulia, and Rajinder Kumar.
