“A defense spokesperson reported that the Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire and intruded into Indian territory along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. The incident began with a mine explosion at 1:10 PM on April 1, 2025, in the Krishna Ghati Sector, attributed to the Pakistani intrusion. This was followed by unprovoked firing from the Pakistani side.
Indian troops responded with a ‘controlled and calibrated’ retaliation. While the Indian Army did not disclose Pakistani casualties, sources indicated that five Pakistani soldiers were injured.
Jammu-based defense PRO Lt Col Suneel Bartwal stated, ‘On 01 Apr 2025, a mine blast occurred in Krishna Ghati Sector due to Pakistan Army intrusion across LoC. This was followed by unprovoked firing and ceasefire violation by Pakistan Army.’ He emphasized that ‘Own troops responded effectively in a controlled and calibrated manner. Situation is under control and being closely monitored.’
The Indian Army reiterated the importance of adhering to the 2021 Director Generals of Military Operations (DGsMO) agreement to maintain peace along the LoC. Ceasefire violations in Jammu and Kashmir have been infrequent since the renewal of the agreement on February 25, 2021.”
