Nine Rescued from Swollen Tawi River in Jammu

A joint operation by police and SDRF teams successfully rescued nine men who were trapped in the Tawi river after a sudden rise in water levels. One laborer, Madan Lal (52), was extracting sand when he became stranded near Jewel Chowk bridge. SDRF personnel rescued him after he was trapped for about two hours. Eight other individuals, including some performing “Pind Daan” rituals, were also rescued through a combined effort involving police, traffic police, SDRF, and local volunteers. Several horses trapped in the river were also saved during the operation.
