Nitin Gadkari announces 2-lane upgrade for Khellani Tunnel in J&K

Union Minister for Road Transport and National Highways Nitin Gadkari announced that the Khellani tunnel in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, is being upgraded to a two-lane tunnel. The current tunnel is uni-directional and only allows traffic to pass in one direction. The upgraded tunnel will be two-lane, allowing traffic to pass in both directions. The project also includes paving a shoulder on the tunnel and improving the approach road. The entire project spans 2.419 kilometers and falls within Package 3 of the National Highways Development Project.

The upgraded tunnel is expected to ensure year-round accessibility to the region. This will be a major benefit to the local economy and the residents of Doda. The project is also expected to reduce traffic congestion and improve the safety of the road.

The project is being undertaken under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister has made improving infrastructure a priority, and this project is part of that effort. The upgraded Khellani tunnel will be a major boost to the development of Jammu and Kashmir.
