Security forces arrested two overground workers (OGWs) of the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.
The two men, Tawseef Ramazan Bhat and Moien Amin Bhat alias Momin, were residents of Sheeri in Baramulla. They were arrested near the Shirkwara bus stop based on specific intelligence inputs.
The security forces had established a joint naka at the bus stop when they spotted the two men coming from the Wagoora bridge side. The men tried to flee but were caught by the alert security personnel.
A Chinese pistol with a magazine and 15 bullets were recovered from Moien, while a hand grenade was recovered from Tawseef. Both men have been identified as OGWs of the LeT.
The police said that the two men were providing logistical support to the terrorists in the area. They were also involved in providing information to the terrorists about the movement of security forces.
The arrests are a major success for the security forces in their fight against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. It is a clear message to the terrorists that they will not be able to operate in the region without facing the consequences.
