Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway will be suspended for 24 hours, from 8 am Sunday to 8 am Monday, to allow for crucial road widening repairs. Recent landslides, particularly near Ramban town, have damaged the highway, necessitating this work. The affected 66-km stretch between Nashri Tunnel and Banihal Tunnel in Ramban was significantly impacted by landslides on April 20. Authorities have halted traffic from Qazigund towards Jammu and from Udhampur towards Srinagar after 5 pm today (Saturday). This repair work, sanctioned by the Deputy Commissioner of Ramban, aims to ensure commuter safety on the vital link connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country. The Maroog-Seri section, spanning four kilometers, sustained the most severe damage.
