A notorious bovine smuggler was detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Jammu District by Nagrota Police today on 18.03.2024
A “notorious bovine smuggler identified as namely Ghulam Murtaza S/O Riaz Ahmed R/O Asrar Abad Sidhra has been booked under Public Safety Act for smuggling bovine in an organised manner posing a threat to peace and order.”
“The accused did not change his behaviour inspite of been booked under several FIR’s and arrest by police in number of cases cases but he continued his illegal activities of smuggling bovines and such activities are likely to disturb public order particularly in Jammu District.”
According to police, cases in which the accused has been booked earlier including FIR Nos. 319/2020, FIR No. 399/2020, FIR No. 64/2022, FIR No. 480/2023 and FIR No. 80/2024 of Police Station Nagrota.
Keeping in view the activities of aforesaid accused as these amount to propagating and creating feelings of enmity, hatred among communities, thus accused was ordered to be detained under section-8 of Public Safety Act (PSA) and has been lodged in jail.
Action against notorious criminals is among the top priorities of Jammu Police which aims not only to take stringent action as per law of land against notorious criminals but it is also a preventive step towards maintenance of peace and order.
