Omar Abdullah Honors July 13 Martyrs at Naqashband Sahib

Srinagar – A day after political gatherings were restricted in Nowhatta, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and National Conference President Farooq Abdullah, accompanied by senior party leaders, visited the Naqashband Sahib shrine in Srinagar to honor the martyrs of July 13.

The Abdullahs offered prayers and laid floral tributes at the Martyrs’ Graveyard. They were joined by other prominent party figures, including Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary, CM’s Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, and MLAs Tanvir Sadiq and Ahsan Pardesi.

This visit followed the Srinagar District Administration’s denial of permission for commemorative gatherings near Khawaja Bazar, including any congregational programs to mark Martyrs’ Day. The National Conference’s earlier application for a commemorative event had not been granted.

While Martyrs’ Day was formerly a gazetted holiday, it no longer holds that status. However, the National Conference continues to observe the day independently.
