Jammu, March 16: Senior BJP leader and MLA East Constituency, Yudhvir Sethi, strongly advocated for the implementation of the “One Nation, One Election” policy, stating that it is crucial for ensuring political stability, reducing election-related expenditure, and enhancing governance efficiency.
He was speaking at a workshop organized here today, where political leaders, experts, and intellectuals deliberated on the significance of simultaneous elections in India. On the occasion, Adv Arvind Gupta Prabhari East constituency, BJP leader Anil Masoom, Bharat bhushan, Parveen Kerni were the main speakers.
Addressing the gathering, Yudhvir Sethi emphasized that frequent elections disrupt the developmental process, burden the exchequer, and hinder long-term policy implementation. “India, being the world’s largest democracy, must streamline its electoral process to ensure a stable and progressive governance model. Conducting elections at different intervals for the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies leads to policy paralysis and slows down decision-making,” he asserted.
The Jammu East MLA further highlighted that the “One Nation, One Election” concept aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. “A synchronized election process will not only strengthen democracy but also allow governments to focus on delivering good governance without the constant pressure of electoral politics,” he said.
The senior BJP leader also underscored the financial burden of repeated elections, citing that thousands of crores are spent each year on electoral processes. “This amount could instead be utilized for welfare schemes, infrastructure development, and national progress,” he pointed out.
Sethi urged all political parties to rise above their differences and support this crucial reform in the national interest. “It is time to prioritize the nation’s progress over political gains. A unified election cycle will foster accountability, policy consistency, and effective governance,” he added.
The workshop saw the participation of legal experts, political analysts, and senior party leaders, who unanimously echoed the sentiment that “One Nation, One Election” is the need of the hour. The discussions focused on the constitutional, logistical, and administrative framework required to implement this significant electoral reform.
The event concluded with a resolution to create awareness and mobilize public support for this transformative initiative, reinforcing BJP’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and governance in India.
