A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a car in Paibugh area of Anantnag on Saturday morning. The victim has been identified as Ghulam Hassan Mir son of Habibullah Mir of Paibugh Mattan.
According to a police official, the pedestrian was crossing the road near Paibugh Mattan when he was hit by a speeding car. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
The police have taken cognizance of the incident and are investigating the matter. They have also registered a case against the driver of the car.
This is the second fatal road accident in Anantnag in the past two weeks. On August 5, a motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a car in Bijbehara.
The authorities have urged people to be careful while crossing the roads and to follow traffic rules. They have also asked drivers to slow down and be more cautious, especially in crowded areas.
