Jammu and Kashmir Police have registered a case against a shopkeeper in R.S. Pura for allegedly selling banned Chinese nylon thread, commonly known as Gattu or Chinese manja.
A police team from Police Station R.S. Pura, led by PSI Abid Bashir, raided a shop in the local market and seized nine rolls of the hazardous thread.
The accused has been identified as Raman Kumar of Ward Number 6, R.S. Pura. A police official stated that Kumar “was found in possession of the synthetic thread, which is prohibited in Jammu district due to its dangerous nature and past involvement in injuries and fatalities.”
An FIR under relevant sections of the law has been registered against Kumar, and further investigation is underway.
