“In Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma suspended a Khilafwarzi Inspector for negligence. The suspension followed complaints from the army regarding violations of the Works of Defence Act (WODA), specifically unauthorized construction.
An investigation, prompted by the army’s concerns, revealed that a building exceeded permitted limits and a residential area was illegally converted to commercial use. The inspector, responsible for monitoring such violations, failed to report these breaches.
The Deputy Commissioner immediately suspended the inspector. The Executive Officer of the Municipal Council was directed to provide an explanation within three days and initiate legal action against the violations. The District Statistics and Evaluation Officer was appointed to conduct an inquiry and submit a report within 30 days. The district administration emphasized its commitment to enforcing building regulations and holding officials accountable.”
