Samba Police continued its crackdown on illicit liquor sales, arresting two individuals and seizing 65 bottles of illegal alcohol in separate incidents within the jurisdictions of Samba and Bari Brahmana Police Stations.
Arrests and Seizures
In Samba, officers intercepted a motorcycle (registration No. JK02AF-4621) at Manohar Gopala near Hanuman Mandir. They recovered 30 bottles of 750 ml Desi liquor from the rider, identified as Jasvinder Singh, son of Jagan Singh, a resident of Pangdour, tehsil and district Samba. Singh was allegedly selling the illicit liquor to the public. A case has been registered under FIR No. 150/2025 per Section 48(a) of the Excise Act, and an investigation is underway.
Similarly, in Bari Brahmana, a police team raided a shop at Labour Chowk Telli Basti and arrested Vinod Bhardwaj, son of Bharat Lal, from Chhattisgarh, currently residing in Bari Brahmana. Police seized 35 bottles of 180 ml JK Special Whisky from his possession. Bhardwaj was also allegedly involved in selling illicit liquor to the general public in the area. A case has been registered under FIR No. 75/2025 per Section 48(f) of the Excise Act, and an investigation has commenced.
