Security forces bust LeT terror module in Baramulla, arrest three associates

A joint team of Baramulla Police and Army arrested three LeT associates in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday. The arrested men have been identified as Showkat Ali Awan, Ahmad Din, and Mohammad Sadeeq Khatana.

The arrests were made during a joint patrolling and area domination exercise in Churunda Uri. The police team noticed a suspicious person who attempted to flee upon spotting them. The man was apprehended and two grenades were recovered from his possession.

During questioning, the man disclosed the names of his accomplices. The other two men were subsequently arrested and two more grenades, a Chinese pistol, a pistol magazine, and four live rounds were recovered from their possession.

The arrested men are accused of being involved in cross-border smuggling of arms and ammunition at the behest of Pakistan-based terror handlers. They were also involved in distributing the arms and ammunition to LeT terrorists for carrying out terror activities.

A case has been registered against the three men in Police Station Uri and an investigation is underway.

The arrests are a major success for the security forces in their fight against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. They send a clear message to terrorists and their supporters that they will not be tolerated and will be brought to justice.
