A bomb blast in Peshawar killed one security personnel and injured several others, including four paramilitary force personnel.
The blast took place on Monday near a hospital complex in the Warsak Road area of the city. The target of the attack was a Frontier Constabulary (FC) vehicle.
Five FC officials and three civilians were injured in the blast. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The police said that the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED). They are investigating the matter further.
This is the latest in a series of terrorist attacks in Pakistan. Last week, four Pakistani soldiers were killed and seven others injured in an attack on two border checkposts in the Chitral district.
The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), an umbrella group of several militant outfits, is believed to be responsible for the attack. The TTP has been active in Pakistan for several years and has carried out a number of deadly attacks, including the 2008 bombing of the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad.
