Srinagar’s Meteorological Centre forecasts light to moderate rain and snow in Jammu and Kashmir from February 19th to 20th. While no significant weather changes are expected until the 18th, cloudy conditions with rain and snow are likely starting late Wednesday afternoon and continuing through Thursday evening. Plains in both Kashmir and Jammu can expect light to moderate rain/thunder with possible gusty winds. Higher elevations in the Chenab Valley and South Kashmir might see moderate snowfall (6-10 inches), while northern and central Kashmir’s higher reaches could receive 4-8 inches.
Recent days have seen a 2-4°C rise in daytime temperatures across Jammu and Kashmir, with Jammu reaching 24.9°C and Katra 23.6°C. In the Kashmir Valley, Srinagar’s maximum was 18.2°C and Qazigund’s 17.4°C. Night temperatures, however, fell slightly (0-1°C) in many areas. Jammu recorded the highest minimum at 10.2°C, and Katra at 9.6°C. Kashmir Valley saw a slight rise in night temperatures, with Srinagar at 2.1°C and Qazigund at -0.2°C. Over the past 24 hours, Gulmarg received 0.6mm of rain, and Kupwara experienced 5.3mm.
