The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday launched raids in the Bathindi area of Jammu. The agency did not release any information about the purpose of the raids.
Meanwhile, the Sopore Police in Jammu and Kashmir arrested two overground workers (OGWs) of the proscribed Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The two men were identified as Mohammad Ashraf Bhat and Mohammad Yousuf Rather.
The police said that the two men were arrested from their respective homes in Sopore. They were found in possession of incriminating material, including cartridges and grenades.
An FIR has been registered in connection with the arrests and an investigation is underway.
The NIA raids in Bathindi come at a time when the security forces are on high alert in Jammu and Kashmir. The region has been witnessing a surge in terror activities in recent months.
The arrests of the two LeT OGWs is a major success for the security forces. It is a clear indication that the forces are determined to uproot terrorism from the region.
