On Monday, Srinagar Police announced that five individuals, identified as terror associates of banned outfits, have been detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA). This action is part of a broader effort against those involved in activities detrimental to national security.
The individuals booked under the PSA are:
- Nayeem Ahmad Khan from Gamandar Panthachowk
- Faizan Akhter Bhat from Gousia Colony, Khanyar
- Mehraj Ud Din Bhat from Pandach
- Umar Hamid Sheikh from Assar Colony, Hazratbal
- Suhaib Shafi Baba alias Chamna from Diwat Walipora, Rainawari
According to a police spokesperson, these arrests were made after formal detention orders were issued based on dossiers compiled by Srinagar Police. The five have since been lodged in district jails in Kathua, Udhampur, and Kot Balwal, Jammu.
Police stated that despite having multiple criminal cases registered against them, these individuals continued their subversive activities even after being released on bail. The Jammu and Kashmir Police is committed to dismantling such anti-national networks within Srinagar.
