Srinagar police have apprehended a drug peddler and seized narcotics during a patrol operation in Bemina.
Officers patrolling the area between Bemina Chowk and Boatman Colony noticed a vehicle driving erratically. Upon attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver fled the scene on foot. However, the passenger, identified as Sameer Ahmad Bhat (son of Ali Mohammad Bhat, resident of Woyan Pampore), was apprehended.
Bhat revealed the driver’s identity as Mudasir Ahmad Pir (son of Shareef-U-Din Pir, resident of Firdous Colony Bemina), who is also the vehicle’s owner. A search of the vehicle’s dashboard yielded a significant quantity of suspected brown sugar, a weighing machine, and a mobile phone. The vehicle has been impounded.
A case (FIR No. 18/2025) has been registered at Police Station Bemina under relevant narcotics laws. Authorities are actively searching for the fleeing suspect, Mudasir Ahmad Pir.
The police urge citizens to cooperate in eliminating drug trafficking and reiterate their commitment to taking decisive legal action against offenders.
