Two men were found dead in a remote village in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, according to police. The bodies of Roshan Lal (45) and Shamsher (37) were discovered on the banks of a stream in Batheri village, said Jitender Singh, the station house officer of the Billawar police station. Preliminary information suggests they were strangled. While the official cause of death will be determined by a postmortem examination, police have opened a murder investigation. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of a terror-related motive, particularly given previous terror activity in the area, including an attack on an army patrol last year that killed five soldiers.
