A forest fire erupted near Brar Salia village in Anantnag district, South Kashmir, on Sunday evening. The blaze is spreading quickly through a section of the Lidder Forest Division due to thick vegetation and difficult terrain, according to an official. The Lidder Forest Division’s DFO, Pahalgam Shama Roohi, confirmed that firefighting teams are on site and working to contain the fire. Jammu and Kashmir has seen a recent increase in forest fires, which experts link to a prolonged dry spell.
