Taj Mohiuddin and Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, two former Jammu and Kashmir ministers, rejoined the Congress party today after a brief period with Ghulam Nabi Azad’s Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP).
The two leaders were welcomed back at the party office by Naseer Hussain, All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in charge of J-K and Ladakh, and Union Territory party chief Tariq Hamid Karra, along with other senior members.
Mohiuddin, who previously represented the Uri assembly segment, initially left the Congress in August 2022 to join the DPAP when Ghulam Nabi Azad resigned from the party. He later departed from the DPAP in August 2024 and ran unsuccessfully as an independent candidate in the assembly elections last year.
Saroori also left the Congress to join the DPAP in August 2022. However, he left Azad’s party after being denied a ticket to contest from Inderwal, where he subsequently ran unsuccessfully.
