Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reiterated Jammu and Kashmir’s deep emotional and constitutional ties with India at the 3rd Lok Samvardhan Parv, a celebration of unity and progress. He asserted that despite its current constitutional status, the people of J&K still view it as a state in spirit and desire to actively contribute to the nation’s advancement.
Speaking at the event, attended by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Abdullah appealed for continued central government support. “Though constitutionally J&K is not a state, we firmly believe it is,” he stated. He acknowledged the region’s past challenges and expressed optimism about its future, emphasizing, “We want J&K to fully participate in India’s progress.”
Abdullah urged Rijiju to expedite the approval of crucial development proposals, highlighting their potential to benefit the people of J&K. He praised the Lok Samvardhan Parv for providing a platform for local artisans and talents, fostering cultural enrichment and national unity.
Recognizing the complexities of Rijiju’s ministerial portfolio, which encompasses diverse religious and cultural groups, Abdullah expressed hope that the central government would support J&K’s aspirations for peace and prosperity.
The Lok Samvardhan Parv, now in its third year, continues to serve as a significant national platform for promoting inclusivity, development, and national unity.
