Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha asserted on Saturday that the killing of innocent people had become the primary profit source for “terror masterminds” and “conflict profiteers” in the region. He vowed to prevent them from regaining influence.
Sinha stated that in the past five years, the police, security forces, and administration, with public support, have largely succeeded in moving J-K beyond that era. However, he acknowledged that significant work remains.
“I want to clearly state that the murder of innocents had become the biggest business for those who orchestrate terror and those who gain from conflict. These conflict profiteers had built a vast system around terror in J-K,” the LG said at an event.
“While some conflict profiteers still attempt to operate, I assure you that none will be allowed to rise again. I am pleased that the youth of J-K are beginning to see through their malicious intentions,” he added.
Sinha urged Sufi scholars present at the event to ensure that such “conflict profiteers” find no acceptance in society.
“I also request the Sufi scholars to develop a long-term strategy to promote Sufism among young people, thereby preventing extremist ideologies from taking root,” he said.
The LG suggested modernizing the ideals of Sufism to effectively reach the youth through contemporary mediums. “We must convey the message of Sufism to young people using new methods,” he concluded.
