Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated that he would not impede development initiatives undertaken by the elected government in the Union Territory, as they oversee crucial departments.
Sinha’s comments were a response to J&K Minister for Education and Health, Sakina Itoo, who, during a function in Kulgam district, urged him to provide assistance to the people. Itoo, representing the Damhal Hanjipora assembly segment of Kulgam, made these remarks at the closing ceremony of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan.
In response, LG Sinha lightheartedly remarked, “Sakina Ji said ‘LG sahab give us something’, I only have police personnel to provide. If anyone needs, I can provide.” He clarified that all other departments fall under the purview of the elected government.
“Rest, like roads, electricity, water, agriculture, comes under the (elected) government,” he elaborated. Sinha reiterated his commitment to not obstruct the elected government’s development efforts, stating, “I can only say that if these people do some work, there will be no hurdle from my side.”
