The annual Amarnath Yatra continues to draw thousands of devotees. Another group of 1,221 pilgrims embarked on their journey to the holy cave shrine on Friday morning. The pilgrims were divided into two convoys and departed from Jammu for the Baltal and Pahalgam base camps in Kashmir.
The sacred Amarnath cave, located at a breathtaking altitude of 3,888 meters, houses a naturally formed ice stalagmite believed to represent Lord Shiva. Devotees undertake the arduous trek to pay homage to this divine formation.
Pilgrims can choose between two routes: the longer, more traditional Pahalgam path or the shorter Baltal route. Helicopter services are also available for those seeking a quicker ascent.
With over 480,000 pilgrims having already completed the Yatra, the religious fervor continues to build. The pilgrimage will conclude on August 19th, coinciding with the auspicious festivals of Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan.
