A 42-year-old man was killed in a head-on collision between a scooty and a sumo vehicle in Bumhama area of Kupwara district on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Maqbool Ganaie of Sever Thandipora. He was riding the scooty when it collided with the sumo vehicle. He was rushed to the SDH Kupwara, where he was declared brought dead.
A case has been registered in the matter and police are investigating.
The incident has caused widespread shock and grief in the area. Ganaie is survived by his wife and two children.
This is the second fatal road accident in Kupwara district in the past two days. On Tuesday, a 25-year-old man was killed in a road accident in Lolab area.
