Rs 33 Crore Heroin Seized, Punjab Smuggler Held

Jammu: Jammu Police made a significant drug bust on Friday, seizing 33 kilograms of high-quality heroin worth Rs 33 crore from a Punjab resident at the Jammu bus stand.

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu, Anand Jain, revealed that police acted on a tip-off about two individuals carrying a suspicious bag. Upon intercepting the duo, they arrested one Punjab-based man and recovered the bag containing the illicit substance.

Investigations indicate the heroin originated from a border area, though the final destination and the source of the consignment remain under investigation. The ADGP emphasized the arrest as a major victory in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking, highlighting the arrest of 23 individuals under the Public Safety Act (PSA) and the seizure of drug-related assets worth Rs 14 crore.

Authorities are currently working to establish the identity and age of the arrested individual while delving deeper into the drug trafficking network involved.
