LG Sinha: No Outsiders to Be Given Land Under PMAY in J&K

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday said that no outsiders would be given land under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in the Union Territory.

Addressing a function in Baramulla, Sinha said that the administration had decided to give 5 marlas of land to landless families under PMAY so that they could construct their own houses. He said that so far, 1,99,500 homes had been sanctioned for homeless families in J&K, including 46,000 SC and ST category families and 2,711 families who had no land.

Sinha said that some people were misleading the public by claiming that land was being given to outsiders. He said that these people should stop creating confusion and should not try to mislead the people.

The LG also inaugurated a 100-seater cinema hall in Baramulla. He said that the cinema hall would not only be a source of entertainment, but would also be a great source of learning for the youth.

Sinha appealed to the people to support the security forces and police in their efforts to maintain peace in the region. He said that it was the collective responsibility of every citizen to contribute towards peace building in J&K.

The LG said that he was open to all suggestions for making J&K prosperous, but that he was not interested in political suggestions.
