An army porter was injured in a landmine blast along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. The blast took place in Saujiyan sector of Poonch in the morning, leaving the porter, identified as Mukhtar Ahmad, son of Muhammad Saleem, injured. He was shifted to the sub-district hospital Mandi for treatment.
A horse that was with the porter was also injured in the blast. The police and army have cordoned off the area and are investigating the matter.
The landmine blast is a reminder of the dangers faced by the army and civilians in the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir. The region is heavily mined and landmines are often triggered by animals or people, causing injuries or death.
The Indian army has been working to clear landmines from the border areas, but the process is slow and costly. In the meantime, the risk of landmine blasts remains a constant threat to the people of the region.
