The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police foiled an infiltration bid at the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, officials said.
The operation was carried out based on intelligence inputs, and the search for any other infiltrators is ongoing.
“Early morning today, an infiltration bid was foiled at the Gen Area Poonch and the joint operation by Indian Army and J&K Police is in progress,” the army said in a statement.
Defence Ministry spokesman Lt Colonel Suneel Bartwal said that additional searches in the area are also currently underway.
“Further details are awaited,” he said.
The foiling of the infiltration bid comes at a time when there has been a renewed focus on security along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.
In recent months, there have been a number of infiltration attempts, and the Indian Army has been successful in foiling most of them.
The foiling of the latest infiltration bid is a sign that the Indian security forces are on high alert and are determined to prevent any infiltration attempts.
