Infiltration bid foiled in Poonch, two terrorists killed

Security forces foiled a major infiltration bid in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, killing two terrorists.

The terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Mendhar sector of Poonch. The encounter broke out after the security forces launched a search operation based on intelligence inputs.

The security forces also recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition from the encounter site.

The operation was jointly carried out by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

This is the second major infiltration bid that has been foiled by security forces in Poonch in recent weeks. In June, security forces killed three terrorists in an encounter in the same sector.

The security forces have been on high alert in the Poonch sector in recent months, as there have been a number of infiltration attempts.

The foiling of the latest infiltration bid is a major success for the security forces and a setback for the terrorists.
