MeT: J&K Snowfall to Start Sunday Evening

The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has issued a forecast predicting a change in weather patterns for Jammu and Kashmir, starting February 25th and lasting until March 1st.

Dry Conditions Briefly, Then Precipitation:

  • February 23rd and 24th will remain dry.
  • From the evening of February 25th through late February 28th, expect cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and snowfall across most areas.

Travel Disruptions Possible:

  • The forecast warns of potential temporary disruptions to road travel, particularly over high mountain passes such as Sadhna Pass, Razdan Pass, Sonmarg-Zojila-Gumri Axis, Mughal Road, and Sinthan Pass.
  • A noticeable decrease in daytime temperatures is also anticipated.

Extended Wet Spell:

  • The rain and snow are expected to continue through late February 28th, affecting both the Kashmir and Jammu divisions.
  • March 1st and 2nd will remain generally cloudy with light rain/snow at scattered to fairly widespread locations.
