Handwara: Drug Peddler Arrested, Brown Sugar Seized

Handwara, Jammu and Kashmir – Handwara Police have successfully foiled a drug smuggling attempt, leading to the arrest of an individual and the seizure of narcotics. The arrest is part of the ongoing crackdown against drug trafficking and substance abuse in the region.

The incident occurred during a routine checkpoint operation near the Bypass Road, close to the Bus Stand Crossing Handwara. A specially deployed team from Handwara Police Station intercepted an Eco vehicle (registration number JK09-8927) after its driver attempted an abrupt U-turn upon noticing the police presence.

Officers swiftly stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Feroz Ahmad War, son of Ab. Majeed War, a resident of Kultoora, Langate. A thorough personal search of War led to the recovery of approximately 9.64 grams of a brown sugar-like narcotic substance.

Following the seizure, a case has been registered under FIR No. 174/2025 in accordance with Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Handwara. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to determine the source of the contraband and identify any other individuals involved in the drug network.

This successful operation highlights the unwavering commitment of Handwara Police to eradicate the menace of drugs from society.
