Police in Jammu and Kashmir have arrested two individuals in separate incidents in Awantipora and Baramulla for drug peddling, and have seized contraband substances from them.
In Awantipora, police at a checkpoint in Razak Shah Crossing arrested a man identified as Mohd Amin Dar of Nazneenpora. Authorities recovered 2.5 kilograms of poppy straw from his possession. A case has been registered at Police Station Tral, and an investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, in Baramulla, police intercepted a motorcyclist on the Ring Road NHW Mirgund. The rider, identified as Umer Ayoub Danposh of Mustafa Abad Zainakot HMT Srinagar, was found with 85 grams of a charas-like substance packaged in five sticks. He was arrested, and his motorcycle was seized. A case has been registered at Police Station Pattan, and an investigation has begun.
Police have encouraged the public to report any instances of drug peddling or other crimes by contacting their nearest police station or dialing 112.
