In response to a tragic cloudburst and landslide in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced financial aid for the victims and their families. This announcement, made on X, outlined that assistance from the CM’s Relief Fund will be provided in addition to the support from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).
Seven people, including five children, were killed and six were injured in two separate incidents early Sunday morning. The Chief Minister stated the goal of this assistance is to provide immediate relief and help families rebuild.
The financial assistance package is as follows:
- For the deceased: The families of each person killed will receive Rs 2 lakh.
- For the injured: Rs 1 lakh will be given to those with severe injuries, and Rs 50,000 for minor injuries.
- For property damage: The government will provide Rs 1 lakh for fully destroyed homes, Rs 50,000 for severely damaged homes, and Rs 25,000 for homes with partial damage.
