Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday said that six people have died and 116 have been arrested in connection with the violence in Nuh district. He appealed for peace and said that 30 companies of the Haryana Police and 20 companies of Central paramilitary forces have been deployed to maintain law and order.
The violence broke out on Tuesday after a group of men stopped a Vishwa Hindu Parishad procession in Nuh. Stones were pelted at the procession and some police vehicles were damaged. The situation is now under control, but the police have registered 41 FIRs and arrested 116 people in Nuh alone.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has spoken to Khattar over the violence and assured him of the Centre’s support.
The violence has also spread to Gurugram, where shops were set on fire on Tuesday. The police have arrested 10 people in connection with the arson.
The Chief Minister has appealed for peace and said that the perpetrators of the violence will be brought to justice. He has also urged people to not spread rumors on social media.
The violence in Nuh is a worrying development. It is important that the authorities take steps to prevent further incidents and ensure that the situation remains calm.
