Over 16,000 pilgrims visited the Amarnath cave shrine on Thursday, taking the total number of pilgrims who have paid obeisance this season to over 162,000.
The Yatra, which began on July 1 and will conclude on August 31, is going smoothly since its commencement on July 1.
Tatkal registration, which allows unregistered pilgrims to obtain registration tokens on a first-come, first-served basis, also resumed on Wednesday. All five on-the-spot booking counters in Jammu were crowded with pilgrims seeking registration tokens.
Pilgrims who obtain Tatkal registration tokens must still undergo a health check-up as part of the mandatory registration process for the pilgrimage.
