Won’t allow other operators to hamper e-rickshaw services: RTO Kashmir

In a strong message to other transport operators, the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) of Kashmir, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari, declared unwavering support for e-rickshaws. He assured drivers that any attempt to obstruct their service would be met with swift legal action.

Emphasizing his office’s commitment, Bukhari stated, “We won’t allow anyone to hamper e-rickshaw services. If caught impeding their movement or public service, they will face strict consequences as per law.”

This firm stance comes amidst a nationwide Road Safety Awareness drive aimed at educating people about traffic rules and reducing accidents. Bukhari explained, “These awareness programs are crucial to make everyone aware of their responsibilities while on the road and ultimately bring down the alarming number of mishaps.”

Acknowledging the positive public response to e-rickshaws, Bukhari expressed, “Since their introduction, these eco-friendly vehicles have provided much relief to people. We stand by them and won’t tolerate any obstruction of their service.”

He further clarified that 80 specific routes have been designated for e-rickshaws, excluding high-speed zones like National Highways and Airport roads.

Bukhari concluded by highlighting the success of e-rickshaws in reaching even the innermost parts of Srinagar, underscoring their contribution to convenient public transport.
