Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha of Jammu and Kashmir said on Tuesday that his government is committed to making the region a terror-free abode. He said that security forces are working tirelessly to eliminate terrorism and its ecosystem.
Sinha praised the role of security forces in ensuring peace in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the mountains of the region are witnessing the priceless sacrifices of the security personnel who have laid down their lives for the nation’s integrity and sovereignty.
The Lieutenant Governor said that he had assured the people of Jammu and Kashmir three years ago that he would fulfill all of his commitments that would pave the way for a peaceful Jammu and Kashmir. He said that a lot of progress has been made in this regard, but more needs to be done.
Sinha said that this year, a record 1.27 crore tourists, including foreigners, have visited Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the number of foreign tourists has increased by 59% this year. The G20 summit that was held in Srinagar this year helped to give Jammu and Kashmir a global boost. The participants of the G20 meeting left with a positive message about the region. Jammu and Kashmir is now being recognized as a place of peace and natural beauty.
The Lieutenant Governor said that the government is trying its best to ensure a peaceful and fearless atmosphere for all citizens so that they can live their lives without fear or coercion. He said that he did not make any promises three years ago, but instead stated that he had come to Jammu and Kashmir to fulfill promises.
Sinha said that the Muharram processions were allowed to pass through traditional routes after a gap of 34 years. This is an indication of the return of normalcy and peace in Jammu and Kashmir. Shia mourners marched through traditional routes without fear during the Muharram procession. This happened after a gap of 34 years. The reopening of cinemas and theaters are also examples of the return of peace to Jammu and Kashmir.
