The District Police Shopian, led by SSP Shopian Ms. Tanushree-IPS, continues its fight against drugs. On the evening of April 22nd, 2024, they arrested a suspected drug peddler and seized approximately 7.5 kilograms of a charas-like substance.
Acting on reliable information, officers from Police Post Wachi raided the residence and cowshed of Farooq Ahmad Dar (S/O Mohd Abdullah Dar) in Darbagh Wachi. During the search, they recovered three nylon polythene bags containing the charas-like substance, which weighed a total of 7 kilograms and 584 grams.
A case (FIR No. 32/2024) under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Zainapora, and an investigation is underway.
The police are urging the community to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling activity in their neighborhoods. They emphasize that those involved in drug sales will face legal consequences.
