Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level meeting at Raj Bhavan in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday to assess ongoing developmental projects. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, along with senior officials from both the Union Home Ministry and the Kashmir government, participated in the meeting. Officials briefed Shah on the progress of various development initiatives in the Union Territory.
Shah’s three-day visit, which began Monday evening, included a visit to the family of Deputy Superintendent of Police Humayun Muzammil Bhat, who was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra for his sacrifice in a 2023 anti-terror operation. Shah spent approximately 20 minutes with Bhat’s father, retired Inspector General of Police Ghulam Hassan Bhat.
Later in the day, Shah is scheduled to review the security situation in Kashmir with top security and police officers. Enhanced security measures are in place throughout Kashmir during his visit, with a significant deployment of armed personnel.
