Two men, including an army jawan, drowned in the Chenab River near Doda on Thursday.
The men, identified as Rohit Singh, 25, and Sunil Kumar, 24, were both residents of Durga Nagar Khallani in Doda. They were washing their hands after performing the last rites of a relative on the banks of the river when they drowned.
A rescue operation was launched by the police, but the men were not found. The bodies are yet to be recovered.
The cause of the drowning is not yet known, but it is believed that the men may have been swept away by the strong currents of the river.
The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
