President Droupadi Murmu addressed children on Tuesday, saying that they are the future of the country and everyone has a responsibility to protect them.
On Children’s Day, Murmu met with children from various schools and organizations at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre (RBCC) in New Delhi.
“We often say that children are the future of the country,” Murmu said in a statement released by the Rashtrapati Bhavan. “It is the duty of all of us to safeguard this future and ensure its proper upbringing.”
Murmu noted that today’s children have access to technology and a wealth of information and knowledge. She said that they are showcasing their talent both domestically and internationally, and that it is our responsibility to guide them in the right direction.
Murmu told the children that if they recognize their potential and work hard towards their goals, they can achieve anything. She also advised them to develop the habit of reading.
“Good books bring positive changes in one’s personality,” she said. “Read biographies of great personalities, which will inspire you and help you face challenges.”
Murmu also said that children are more sensitive to the needs of others. “They feel sad when they see others sad, and happy when they see others happy,” she said. “We can use this quality to teach them from a young age to help others and to have a sense of love and respect for the environment.”
Murmu also stressed the importance of teaching children about the importance of health and cleanliness.
