Chief Minister Abdullah expressed concern about the slow pace of revenue collection and directed all departments to prioritize this area immediately. He stressed the need for a clear, monthly plan rather than waiting until the end of the financial year. The Finance Department will send specific revenue targets to each department for the next six months. He warned that if revenue mobilization doesn’t improve, the government might be forced to cut departmental spending.
Social Security and Welfare Schemes:
The Chief Minister reviewed several social welfare programs, including PM Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), PM Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY). While acknowledging impressive growth in these areas—with PMJDY account holders now over 2.3 million—he called for an investigation into why enrollment has recently dropped. Deputy Commissioners will receive specific instructions from the Finance Department to improve coverage in their districts. Another review of these schemes is scheduled for three months from now, with the expectation of significant improvement.
Development and Infrastructure:
The Chief Minister directed officials to speed up the finalization of works under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and upload them to the BEAMS portal. He also instructed that Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) be informed about which of their prioritized projects were included in the budget and which were deemed unviable.
Worker Welfare:
The meeting also highlighted progress made by the Building & Other Construction Workers Board, which disbursed over ₹166 crore to 2.5 lakh beneficiaries in the 2024-25 fiscal year. However, the Chief Minister noted that the number of active registered workers remains low and called for a concerted effort to increase enrollment.
Chief Minister Abdullah concluded the meeting by reiterating his government’s commitment to social security and fiscal discipline. He urged all departments to work closely with the Finance Department to meet these crucial goals.
