Rattan Lal Gupta, provincial president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC), issued a public appeal on Thursday, encouraging tourists and pilgrims nationwide to visit Jammu and Kashmir without apprehension. He emphasized that the region is now safe and ready to welcome visitors.
Gupta highlighted efforts by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to instill confidence, including holding government meetings in popular tourist spots like Pahalgam and Gulmarg. After a Cabinet meeting in Pahalgam, Abdullah held another meeting with top officials in Gulmarg on Wednesday, aiming to promote tourism and ensure a positive experience for visitors.
Responding to questions about the impact of NC chief Farooq Abdullah playing golf and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah cycling, Gupta stated that these actions, along with the government meetings, send a powerful message of normalcy to the public and tourists. He urged people to disregard terrorist threats, asserting that Jammu and Kashmir remains “a paradise” to be enjoyed.
Regarding the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, Gupta called on pilgrims to participate in large numbers and without fear, stating that their presence would counter the intentions of terrorists and their sponsors, including Pakistan.
In other news, prominent activist Kuldeep Raj Sharma, who recently resigned from the BJP, officially joined the National Conference at a function in Jammu, with Gupta present.
