On Monday, June 16, 2025, the Indian Army’s Fire and Fury Corps commemorated “Galwan Day,” paying tribute to the soldiers who died five years ago in the 2020 Galwan Valley clashes at the India-China border.
The Fire and Fury Corps shared on X (formerly Twitter): “On Galwan Day, Fire and Fury Corps paid heartfelt tribute to the valour and supreme sacrifice of our bravehearts who stood resolute in the face of adversity. The indomitable courage in Galwan Valley forever resonates in the hearts of every Indian. The nation honours their families with deep respect. Their sacrifice continues to inspire generations.”
This remembrance comes after recent diplomatic and military efforts to de-escalate tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). In October 2024, India and China reportedly reached an agreement on patrolling arrangements in the Depsang Plains and Demchok, two key friction points. This followed earlier disengagement in other areas of eastern Ladakh.
Additionally, top leaders from both nations, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping, met in October last year on the sidelines of the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan.
