Indian opener Shubman Gill has praised the performances of spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja in the ongoing ODI World Cup, despite the pitches not being particularly conducive to spin bowling.
Gill noted that the spinners have been exceptional in the middle overs, picking up crucial wickets and keeping the pressure on the batsmen. He said that this has been a game-changer for India, as it has prevented the opposition from building big partnerships.
In particular, Gill praised Jadeja’s spell of 10-0-38-2 against Bangladesh, as well as his spectacular catch to dismiss Mushfiqur Rahim. He also lauded KL Rahul’s one-handed catch to get rid of Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
Gill said that India’s fielders have been working hard on their skills in training, and that this is paying off in matches. He said that fielding is a very important skill for all cricketers, and that India is committed to improving in this area.
Overall, Gill is confident that India’s spinners and fielders will continue to play a key role in the team’s success in the World Cup.
