Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday inaugurated the 3rd Anti-Terror Conference hosted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in New Delhi. The conference is being held to discuss various issues related to counter-terrorism and prepare a roadmap in the fight against terrorism in close coordination with other agencies and state forces concerned.
The conference is being attended by the Anti-Terrorist Squad of state police forces across the country and other concerned officers from different forces as well as other departments under the Ministry of Home Affairs engaged in anti-terror projects.
Counter-terrorism issues to be discussed in the conference include:
Financing of terrorism, including the use of official and unofficial channels, as well as the use of new and emerging technologies.
Inter-state and foreign links of gangsters with banned terror outfits like Khalistani entities.
Establishment of mechanisms to share information and best practices between states.
The conference is also expected to discuss the findings of the NIA’s recent “No Money For Terror” (NMFT) Ministerial Conference, which was attended by 93 participating countries and multilateral organisations.
In his inaugural address, Amit Shah said that the Modi government is firmly committed to rooting out terrorism from the country and will adopt a zero-tolerance approach to terrorism. He also emphasised the need for international cooperation in combating terrorism financing.
