Innocents Should Not Be Affected In Efforts To Catch Pahalgam Terrorists: CM Omar Abdullah

Following the Pahalgam attack and heightened tensions along the Line of Control (LOC) with Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah emphasized the importance of balancing security measures with the protection of local civilians.

“While apprehending the terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack is crucial, we must ensure these efforts do not negatively impact the innocent people of Jammu & Kashmir,” Abdullah stated to reporters. He acknowledged the security challenges but stressed the need for a measured approach.

“We understand the situation, and we cannot ignore it. However, we must proceed cautiously to avoid affecting the lives of innocent residents during our pursuit of the attackers. We have communicated this concern to the appropriate authorities,” he explained.

Abdullah further cautioned against indiscriminate actions, saying, “It should not appear that we are arresting numerous locals in pursuit of a few perpetrators. We need to exercise prudence and implement logical measures.”
